Book Review: Sky Blue

41541rt5ajl_aa240_.jpgI’ve just finished reading Sky Blue by Travis Thrasher. To be honest with you, I put off reading this novel for several months. For one thing, it is thick. A book had better be good if I’m going to commit to reading almost 400 pages. The second deterrent was when I lent my copy of the book to a women sitting next to me on an airplane and her feedback was less than flattering. I finally decided that I needed to put my preconceived notions aside and get down to the business of reading. I’m glad that I did. Sky Blue is clever, surprising and completely satisfying.

Sky Blue is published by Moody Publishers who states that their goal is, “…to provide high-quality, thought-provoking books and products that connect truth to your real needs and challenges.” The main character in Sky Blue, a jaded literary agent who has seemingly lost everything that is important to him, grapples with what is truly important in life. While not overtly “Christian,” Sky Blue resonates with grace.

I’ll have to put it on my “to read” list. I just bought Randy Alcorn’s book, Heaven, and am interested to start reading it. And I got Atonement too. So much reading…so little time. :)

Atonement was good (a few shocking scenes) and I don’t want to spoil the ending but when you get there, tell me what you think. I haven’t seen the movie. I originally read the book because I heard about the movie (and love Keira Knightly and James McAvoy) but now I think I’ll wait till the dvd comes out.
